Dancer Busking

This is a photo from my stripper stripper stripper performance on Tuesday. I enjoy dancing at the strip club once a month. It's busking for exotic dancers. It's nice to get tangible feedback from the audience to know what they like best. I have found that while I enjoy doing pole work, the audience response (meaning cash) for my classic burlesque numbers is better. I did Mega Costume last week. Give the people what they want, right?

The Letter Follies: June Edition

The Letter Follies is a combination of classic and Neo-Burlesque presented for all to enjoy in the comfort of a Topless Gentlemen’s Club.

Some girls wear pasties, some don’t.
Some performers demonstrate skills on the pole, some do not.
Some acts challenge, some acts tease, some acts delight.

All acts are enjoyable, entertaining and demonstrate a mastery of the art of burlesque.

Two shows are presented, one at 10 and one at 11:30 – in between, we encourage you to enjoy the lovely and entertaining ladies of Star Garden. (Bring folding money.)

The Letter Follies: May Edition

This month holds adventure and excitement!  I'm dancing to a song I absolutely love that I swear you've never seen me do before.  I'm also whipping out most of the number that goes with Mega Costume (minus the pieces that are incomplete).  Two great shows and a guaranteed fun time.  You'll see things here you won't see at other burlesque shows.  :)

The Letter Follies: April Edition

I am pleased to announce that I am officially a regular performer at The Letter Follies!  There has been a line-up change.  Lucille Highball (Striptease Symposium graduate) is filling in for Holly Rock-It.  I'm doing a fan dance at the early show and a new boa number at the late show, implementing some of the choreography I taught my beginner class so they can see how it can be used.  It's always a fun time, and it's the only Los Angeles burlesque show that allows for money being thrown on the stage.

The Letter Follies: February Edition

I'm back at Star Garden tonight for two shows.  The 10pm show is perfect for those who don't watch "Lost," and the midnight show is perfect for "Lost" fans.  I'm doing a pole number to a John Mayer song, something you'll never see at another venue.

Stripper Stripper Stripper

I use the term stripper stripper stripper to refer to those who work in strip clubs, or as an adjective to describe things that are akin to what one might see in a strip club.  As a burlesque performer, I am a stripper just like those who work in the strip clubs.  I don't look down my nose at those who make a living in these clubs and I don't claim to be performing something more elevated than what they do.  I simply use the term stripper stripper stripper so people can understand my frame of reference.

Last night I did Scarlett's show at a strip club in North Hollywood, and for one glorious night I was a stripper stripper stripper.  I did burlesque numbers, but I did perform in the space and I did give the audience what they expected to see in that venue.  I wasn't used to being confined to the 'topless zone' (vice line on the stage) when I performed parts of my first number, but I was acclimated to the space for my fan dance.  It was a very friendly club and I'd love to return.  I think that would be the venue where I'd want to work if I was always a stripper stripper stripper.
